Meaning
The capital town of St. Thomas parish, on the south-east coast — best known as the site of the Morant Bay Rebellion of 1865, when national hero Paul Bogle led a poor Black uprising against injustice. Its brutal suppression became a turning point in Jamaica's road to self-government. A place of deep historical weight.
