Privacy
What this site collects.
Short version: no analytics, no cookies, no accounts, no newsletter. What leaves your browser is text you choose to translate, and a word you searched for that we don't have yet — both kept, unlinked to you, to find what the dictionary is missing. The word game and the crossword keep your progress in your own browser and send nothing.
No tracking
This site runs no analytics and no advertising or social trackers. There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no pixel. It sets no cookies and uses no session storage. The one thing it keeps in your browser is the progress of the daily word game and the Patois Crossword — your statistics, streaks, times, settings and the board or grid you are playing — in local storage on your own device. That data is never sent to us and we cannot read it; each game's Settings can erase it at any time. There are no accounts to create and no email list to join, so there is nothing here to sign up to.
The dictionary, phrasebook and Word of the Day are static pages. Reading them sends us nothing beyond the ordinary web request needed to deliver the page.
Search
Dictionary search runs entirely inside your browser. The word list is downloaded once and matched locally, so a search that finds something is never sent anywhere — not to us, not to anyone else.
When a search finds nothing at all, we keep a record of that specific missed word so we know what to add to the dictionary next — the clearest signal we have for that. Like the translator below, it is not linked to you: no IP address, account, cookie or session id travels with it.
The translator
When you press translate, the text is sent to our server and on to a language model to produce the translation: Anthropic normally, and Cloudflare Workers AI as a fallback when the first is unavailable.
We keep a record of what gets typed in — the phrase, which direction it was translated, and which engine answered — because what people actually try to translate is how we find words the dictionary is missing. That record is not linked to you: it carries no IP address, no account, no cookie or session id, nothing that identifies who sent it. But because the text does leave your device, is handled by our translation providers under their own policies, and is kept by us afterward, do not put personal, confidential or sensitive information into the translator. Translate the sentence, not the private details in it.
Abuse prevention
To stop the translator being used to run up bills, the server separately counts how many translation requests come from an IP address within a sixty-second window and refuses the excess. That rolling count expires with the window and is kept apart from the record described above — it is never connected to what was translated.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP address and user agent to deliver pages and protect against attacks, as any web host does.

Some entries link to RebelOneMart, the store that funds and maintains this dictionary. Those are ordinary links. Following one takes you to a separate site with its own privacy policy and its own cookies; nothing about you is passed along from here.
