Idler

noun EYE-dla ˈaɪdla

Also spelled idla, corner idler

A loafer — someone who hangs about doing nothing, especially the men who spend their days lounging on the 'corner', at the shop, or under a tree, watching the world go by and 'passing dominoes'. The 'corner idler' is a stock figure, sometimes just relaxing, sometimes idling away a life that could be more productive. 'Idlin' is loafing about.
