Lazy

adjective LIE-zi ˈleːzi

Also spelled liezi

Lazy — unwilling to work or make effort. In Jamaican speech laziness is a favourite target of scolding and proverb, often paired with sharper words like 'fenkeh-fenkeh' (feeble) or the insult 'wutliss' (worthless). A 'lazy bwoy' who won't lift a hand is a stock figure of parental complaint.

  • Yuh too lazy fi wash yuh own plate.

You're too lazy to wash your own plate.

  • Di lazy bwoy sleep whole day.

The lazy boy slept all day.

  • Mi nuh keep no lazy smaddy roun mi.

From English 'lazy'; a frequent theme in Jamaican proverb and household scolding.
