A hit-maker — an artist who consistently makes hit songs, or, more broadly, a heavy-hitter who delivers and gets results. A 'hitta' in the studio churns out chart-toppers; in life, a serious, effective operator. (In hard street talk it can also mean a gunman, so context matters.)
