Meaning
A person of high standing and respect — a top-ranking, important figure who has earned status in their field or community. As a deejay/artist title it marks a heavyweight (as in 'Josey Wales the Colonel' or the many artists styled 'Ranking'); more broadly, a 'rankin' is someone who commands respect.
