Meaning
The board game of draughts (checkers) — played on the same squared board as chess, with players jumping and capturing each other's pieces and 'crowning' a piece that reaches the far side. A popular game of skill in Jamaican homes, bars, and on the corner, often played by older men alongside dominoes, and a favourite for a quiet battle of wits.
