Meaning
Sweetened condensed milk — the thick, very sweet tinned milk that is a fixture of the Jamaican kitchen, stirred into tea, coffee, and cocoa, drizzled over porridge and fruit, and beaten into punches and drinks. Long-keeping and needing no fridge, condense milk was for generations the milk in the house, and a spoon of it straight from the tin is a small childhood pleasure. It sweetens and enriches in one, and 'condensy' is a common pet name for it.
