Chocolate tea

noun CHAK-lit TEE ˈtʃaklɪt tiː

Also spelled chocolate-tea, cocoa tea, chaklit tea

Hot cocoa made the traditional Jamaican way — grated or grated-and-boiled from a hard ball of local roasted cocoa ('chocolate'), simmered with water, spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon, and finished with milk and sugar, leaving a rich film of cocoa fat on top. A cherished country breakfast drink, chocolate tea is thicker, spicier, and more chocolatey than shop cocoa. In Jamaica 'tea' means any hot morning drink, so this is 'tea' too.
