Meaning
A scrubbing brush made from the dried husk of a coconut, traditionally used to shine and polish wooden and red-oxide floors. Standing on half a dry coconut husk and 'skating' it back and forth over red polish to bring up a shine is a vivid memory of old-time Jamaican housekeeping.
