Meaning
A prized freshwater fish of Jamaican rivers — the mountain mullet — sweet-fleshed and much sought after for river-fish soup and frying. Caught in the clear upland rivers, the calipeever is a country delicacy, gathered along with janga (crayfish) and busu (river snails).
