Meaning
A common silvery fish found both in the sea and in river mouths, a popular everyday eating fish in Jamaica — fried, steamed, or in soup. The freshwater upland kind is the 'mountain mullet' (calipeever); the sea mullet is netted along the coast and sold cheap and fresh.
