Blue soap

noun BLUE SOAP bluː soːp

Also spelled blue-soap, blue cake soap, blue-cake

The hard, blue-and-white bar of all-purpose soap found in every Jamaican household — used for washing clothes by hand, scrubbing floors and skin, and even as a folk remedy for the skin. Cheap, strong, and long-lasting, the 'blue cake soap' (the blue part thought to help whiten the wash) is a true household staple, and a bar cut in pieces lasts a good while.
