Meaning
A parting blessing meaning "travel safely" or "take care of yourself" — a wish for the other person's wellbeing on their way, rather than a simple goodbye.

Origin
A calque built from English words on a West African pattern, where a parting wish refers to the journey itself. Similar constructions appear in several Akan and Igbo farewells.
How it's used
Warmer and more caring than "later" or "bye". Appropriate for elders and strangers as well as friends, which makes it one of the safest Patois phrases for a visitor to use.
