Meaning
A poor but musically hallowed neighbourhood of West Kingston — the cradle of ska, rocksteady, and reggae, and the home where Bob Marley and the Wailers came up. Immortalised in songs like 'Trench Town Rock' and 'No Woman No Cry' ('we used to sit inna di government yard in Trench Town'), it is a place of hardship and of immense cultural pride and pilgrimage.
