Meaning
Short of breath — breathing with difficulty, easily winded, or wheezy, as with asthma, a bad chest, or age. To be 'short-breath' is to run out of air quickly on exertion. Often said of someone who 'ketch short breath' climbing a hill or during an asthma attack ('asma').
