Meaning
Asthma — the breathing condition, pronounced 'asma' in Patois with the silent 'th' dropped. A child or adult with 'asma' wheezes and gets 'short-breath', kept in check with a 'pump' (inhaler) and, traditionally, with bush teas and remedies. A common chronic complaint.
