Meaning
To live together as a couple without being married — to 'shack up' or 'live wid' someone is to move in and share a home and life outside of marriage. Over time such a couple becomes 'common-law'. Depending on who is speaking, 'shack up' can be neutral or carry a note of disapproval from those who prize a proper wedding.
