Meaning
Formally married in a church ceremony, with the vows, the white dress, and the wedding — as distinct from a 'common-law' union of simply living together. Being 'church married' carries a certain status and respectability, and a big church wedding is a much-celebrated event; but it is only one way of forming a family in Jamaica, where the common-law union is just as much the norm.
