Meaning
The aromatic leaf of the pimento (allspice) tree, used both in cooking and as a bush tea. Boiled into a warm, spicy tea, pimento leaf is a traditional home remedy for colds, chills, and an upset stomach, and the same leaves and wood are burned to give jerk its smoke. Pimento is native to Jamaica, and every part of the tree — berry, leaf, and wood — carries its warm, clove-like fragrance.
