Meaning
The pairs form of dominoes — four players in two teams of two, partners sitting opposite each other, working together (with unspoken signals and reading each other's play) to block the other pair and 'pose' (win the hand). Partner domino is the classic competitive format, demanding teamwork and cunning, and the arguments over a partner's play are half the fun.
