Mule

noun MYUL mjuːl

Also spelled mule, drug mule, carrier

A person who smuggles illegal drugs by carrying them — often on a flight, sometimes swallowed in pellets — for a fee or under pressure, taking all the risk while others take the profit. Named for the beast of burden, the 'mule' bears the load and the danger. A grim modern reality of the drug trade, and a warning in songs and cautionary talk. (Literally, a mule is also the donkey-horse cross.)
