Meaning
A suitcase or travel bag — the everyday word for the case you pack for a journey, especially the big one taken 'a foreign'. 'Pack yuh grip' means pack your suitcase; a returning relative arrives 'wid dem grip full a barrel goods'. An older term than 'suitcase' in Jamaican speech, 'grip' carries the sense of travel, migration, and coming and going.
