Meaning
A children's hopping game played on a grid of squares chalked or scratched on the ground: a player tosses a small stone (the 'tor') into a square, then hops through the pattern on one foot to fetch it, without stepping on the lines or the square with the stone. A schoolyard and yard favourite, known in some areas as 'stucky', hopscotch needs nothing but a piece of chalk, a stone, and a bit of level ground, and it filled countless childhood afternoons.
