Meaning
A cloth tied around the head — a headwrap or scarf — worn by women to cover or bind up the hair, for work, for church, for style, or for spiritual and cultural reasons. The head tie ranges from a plain everyday kerchief to bind the hair while cooking or cleaning, to a proud, elaborate wrap in bright African cloth. To 'tie yuh head' is the act itself, long a familiar part of Jamaican women's dress.
