Meaning
The smallest parish in Jamaica, on the north-west coast, with its capital at Lucea. A quiet, scenic parish of farming and fishing lying near the Negril tourist strip, Hanover is known for its rolling green country, its coastline, and its history, and it is the birthplace of national hero Alexander Bustamante. One of the fourteen parishes into which the island is divided, it holds its own place in the map of Jamaican identity, where a person's parish is a proud part of who they are and where they come from.
