Meaning
A large parish in south-central Jamaica, with its capital at May Pen — known for its farming (sugar, citrus, and the fertile plains), its bauxite mining, and as the home parish of many notable Jamaicans. One of the island's fourteen parishes, Clarendon stretches from the coast up into the hills, a place of cane fields, cattle, and country districts.
