Meaning
A godfather — a man who sponsors a child at christening and takes an ongoing role in guiding and supporting that child. As with the godmadda, the bond is treated as close family in Jamaican church and community life. Separately, 'godfada' can also be used loosely for a powerful protector or big man in an area — the boss figure.
