Meaning
A knitted jersey, pullover, or sweater: a warm top pulled on over the head, worn on cool mornings or up in the hills. The word, also spelled ganzy or gansey, comes from 'guernsey', the fisherman's knitted sweater. In some speech it names a plain vest or undershirt instead, the light top worn next to the skin or on its own in the heat.
