Fuckery

noun FUCK-e-ry ˈfʌkri offensive

Also spelled fuckry, f**kery

Nonsense, foolishness, or — very commonly — a gross injustice or unfair, messed-up situation. Though built on a vulgar root, in Jamaican use 'fuckery' most often means 'an outrageous wrong' rather than anything sexual: 'dat a pure fuckery' means 'that is a total injustice/mess'. Coarse but widely used.

  • Dem fire him fi no reason — a pure fuckery dat!

They fired him for no reason — that's a total injustice!

  • Stop di fuckery an do di ting right.

Stop the nonsense and do the thing properly.

  • Di way dem treat di people is fuckery.

The way they treat the people is an outrage.

From the vulgar English root plus '-ery'; in Jamaican usage the meaning centres on nonsense and, above all, injustice or a badly messed-up situation.

Coarse but extremely common; its usual sense is 'injustice/nonsense', not anything sexual. Still too vulgar for formal settings.
