Diss tune

noun DIS CHOON dɪs tʃuːn

Also spelled diss-tune, diss song, diss track

A song made to attack, insult, and 'disrespect' ('diss') a rival artist by name — a weapon in dancehall's lyrical wars. A diss tune calls out an opponent, mocks them, and claims superiority; it usually draws an 'answer tune' in return, and a heated exchange of diss and answer can define a whole clash or feud.

  • Di diss tune name him straight.
