Meaning
A place where two roads cross — a junction that serves as a landmark, a meeting point, and a hub of small business and bustle in town and country. Beyond the plain crossing, the crossroads holds spiritual weight in folk belief: it is a place where the worlds meet, where duppies gather, and where offerings or 'set' things may be left, so people are wary of it at night. Kingston's own busy district of Cross Roads takes its name from such a junction.
