Meaning
A rich, gelatinous stew made from the foot (trotter) of the cow, slow-cooked with butter beans or broad beans, spinners, and seasoning until the meat and skin fall off the bone and the sauce turns thick and sticky. A hearty, cheap, much-loved Jamaican dish, 'cow foot and beans' is a proper belly-filler and, like other 'strong' foods, is reputed to be good for the joints.
