Meaning
A rich soup made from the bull's genitals ('cod' = the male organ/testicles), boiled long with green bananas, yam, dumplings, and plenty of seasoning. Cow cod soup is eaten by men as a reputed aphrodisiac and 'back-strengthener', in the same tonic tradition as mannish water, and it is talked about with a knowing, joking pride. The strong reputation is as much folklore as fact.
