Meaning
Old-fashioned dating and wooing — a man and woman formally seeing each other with a view to marriage, the way romance was conducted in earlier generations, often under the watchful eye of the girl's family. To be 'courting' is to be steadily and seriously seeing someone; a 'courting couple' are a pair walking out together.
