Meaning
A brother in the wider sense — a close male friend, a fellow, one of your circle — rooted in Rastafari's language of brotherhood. 'Mi bredrin' is my close friend or 'brother from another mother'; the word stresses loyalty and shared bond rather than blood. Its female counterpart is 'sistren'.
