Meaning
A deep natural swimming pool of startlingly clear, vivid blue water — formed where a spring, river, or sinkhole opens into a deep basin, often surrounded by rock and forest. Jamaica has several famous 'blue holes' (in Portland and near Ochi) where locals and visitors leap from the rocks and swim in the cool depths.
