Meaning
A high-ranking church leader — the head of a congregation or a group of churches, above pastors, especially in the many independent Pentecostal and apostolic churches of Jamaica. A bishop is addressed with great respect and carries authority in both spiritual and community affairs. The title is common in the island's flourishing evangelical church scene.
