Meaning
An important, powerful, or wealthy person — a big man, someone with money, status, or influence. 'Big shot' can be said with real respect for someone who has risen and made it, or with an edge of mockery for someone acting grand and full of themselves. To 'feel like a big shot' or to 'a gwaan like big shot' is to carry on as though you are more important than you are, so the word can flatter or cut down.
