Water truck

noun WAA-ta TRUK ˈwaːta trʌk

Also spelled water-truck, water lorry, trucking water

A tanker truck that delivers water to homes and communities, especially where there is no piped supply or during a dry spell when the taps run dry. In many country and drought-hit areas the water truck is a lifeline — people fill their drums and tanks when it comes, and a delayed truck means real hardship. 'Trucking water' is the whole practice of getting water in this way.

  • Di water truck come fill up wi drum.

The water truck came to fill up our drums.

  • Nuh water inna di pipe, wi haffi truck it.

There's no water in the pipe; we have to truck it in.

  • Everybody line up when di water truck reach.

Everybody lines up when the water truck arrives.
