Meaning
A fast-growing tree with big, hand-shaped silvery-backed leaves and hollow, jointed stems (which children use to make toy trumpets — hence the name). Common on hillsides and in 'ruinate' land, the trumpet tree is valued in bush medicine: its leaves are brewed into a tea widely taken for high blood pressure and diabetes ('sugar').
