Meaning
A loud, cutting verbal quarrel — cursing someone out in stinging, insulting language, often in public. To 'trace off' or 'trace' someone is to give them a fierce tongue-lashing, listing every fault at full volume. A 'tracing match' is two people going at each other in words. Distinct from a physical fight; this is warfare with the mouth.
