Meaning
A member of the Revival / Zion churches, so nicknamed because the women wrap their heads in cloth ('tie their head') and the congregations often wear white with coloured turbans and sashes. By extension 'tie-head church' names the whole tradition of Revival Zion — the Afro-Christian faith of hand-clapping, drumming, spirit-filled 'trumping' worship, and healing.
