Suck

verb SUCK mild

To suck — to draw on with the mouth: sucking a sweetie, a mango seed, or juice from a fruit. It also appears in the rude 'suck teeth' (kiss-teeth, a hiss of contempt) and in coarse cursing, so tone and phrase decide the register. 'Chaw' (chew) sits nearby among the eating words.

  • Di pickney a suck him mango.

The child is sucking his mango.

  • Suck di juice outta di sugar cane.

Suck the juice out of the sugar cane.

From English 'suck'. See [[suck-teeth]], [[chaw]].

To draw on with the mouth; note the rude 'suck teeth' and curse uses.
