Meaning
The leader of a Revival or Pocomania band — the 'Shepherd' (or female 'Shepherdess' or 'Mother') who heads the church, leads the worship, interprets spirits and dreams, and performs healing and spiritual work. A figure of great authority and power in Afro-Jamaican Revival religion, the Shepherd guides the 'flock' both in worship and in their spiritual and practical troubles.
