Meaning
A practitioner of obeah — one who works 'science', the term for the ritual power to heal, protect, harm, or influence fortune through spiritual means. People consult a science-man to remove a curse, gain protection, win a court case or a lover, or set trouble on an enemy. 'Science' here does not mean laboratory science but this hidden art.
