Meaning
A dancehall dance and its anthem from Elephant Man — 'Pon di River, Pon di Bank' — where the dance alternates two steps to the chant, one for 'the river' and one for 'the bank', so the crowd switches on cue. A huge early-2000s hit, it is a classic call-and-response dance tune where the words tell you exactly which move to do.
