Meaning
Small whole shrimp cooked fiery-hot with scotch bonnet pepper and salt until bright red — eaten shell and all, sucked and crunched for their intense, spicy flavour. Sold in little scandal bags by roadside vendors, pepper shrimp is most famous from Middle Quarters in St Elizabeth, where women flag down cars along the road to sell them.
