Nuff-nuff

adjective NUF-nuf ˈnʌfnʌf

Also spelled nuff nuff, nuf-nuf

Very many; a great many; loads and loads — the doubling of 'nuff' (enough/plenty) intensifies it to mean an even larger amount. 'Nuff-nuff people did deh deh' means a huge crowd was there. (Note: said of a person, 'nuff' or 'too nuff' can instead mean overbearing or too forward — but 'nuff-nuff' of quantity means simply 'a great many'.)

  • Nuff-nuff people turn out fi di show.

A great many people turned out for the show.

  • Mi have nuff-nuff work fi do.

I have loads and loads of work to do.

  • Dem gi wi nuff-nuff food.

They gave us loads of food.

Reduplication of 'nuff' (enough/plenty, from 'enough') to intensify quantity. See [[nuff]], [[whole-heap]].

'Very many / loads'; quantity intensifier. Distinct from 'nuff' = overbearing (of a person). See [[nuff]], [[bag-a-tings]].
