Meaning
A stinging wasp, feared for its painful sting, that builds mud or paper nests around houses, eaves, and the bush. Disturbing a marabunta nest is a fast way to get chased and stung, and every country child learns to give the nests a wide berth. By extension, 'marabunta' also describes a fierce, aggressive, quick-to-attack person, one who flares up and stings like the wasp. So the word names both the dreaded insect and the hot-tempered, combative character likened to it, sharing the same readiness to strike.
